OBESITY - A GROWING PROBLEM

The biggest and largest growing problem in America is obesity. There are many contributing factors to the cause of obesity. Genetics plays a role, diet, exercise (or lack thereof), alcohol consumption, and even ethnicity may even play a part. Americans have been gaining weight at an alarming rate over the last 20 years. The three biggest factors that we believe to contribute to this are fast food, alcohol consumption, and lack of exercise. In 1990, not a single state had an obestity rate higher than 14%. 1994, was the first year that all states had data to report on obesity, by this time 16 states had broken the 15% barrier. The obestity rate has doubled in the last 20 years. Today, blacks have 51 percent higher prevalence of obesity, though the problem does not discriminate. Income levels played a part in obesity rates as well. Lower income families tended to be more obese, more than likely because fast food is cheap and appealing to low income families. There are many different weight loss methods and programs out there. Many work, many are just money making schemes with little success, and many weight loss mothods work for some people and not for others. Again, the hardest but most effective ways to lose weight are eliminating or limiting alcohol consumption and fast food combined with exercising. Nowadays, people are so busy and tired and unmotivated to exercise. Exercise can be boring and not everyone has the time or money to attend a gym class or work out center. We understand that your self-esteem can be damaged by your weight. You can do things to change that. It takes time, determination, and changing your living habits. Alcohol is one of the biggest contributors to obestity. Please drink responsibly. Drinking and driving is dangerous and can be deadly. Drinking in moderation is essential to losing weight and good health.

You get what you pay for in life, and food is no different. Part of the reason you are in the situation you are in is likely from eating "cheap" food. Face it, nobody got to become overweight overnight. It was probably caused from day in and day out of eating unhealthy food, or drinking alcohol, or not exercising, or a combination of all three. The American population has also been fooled into thinking that they must drink milk. There are pictures of movie stars in magazines with the famous milk mustache-trying to talk us all into following our favorite movie stars. When we ingest cow’s milk, allergies and mucus are formed, and our cholesterol is raised. Did you know that whole milk products contain pesticides that have been proven to cause cancer in lab animals? Vitamin sources in food can be misleading. We can’t be consuming the vitamins we need, if we are eating and drinking poisonous pesticides. The milk we drink also contains harmful antibiotics (like cow beef) and sulfa drugs. What? I’m allergic to sulfa and I’ve been drinking milk for years! It's no wonder I have asthma and other allergies. I made the decision last week not to follow the FDA’s rules. I no longer eat meat that’s non-organic and I no longer drink milk. There are more vitamin sources in food if you begin to eat healthy.
